Compilations

Turn a channel's ready shorts into one long-form 16:9 video with chapters, in minutes and for very few credits — and post it where long videos count.

A compilation stitches three to twelve of a channel's ready episodes into one long video for YouTube and Facebook: each short stands at full height in a 16:9 frame, one after another, with chapters in the description. Long-form watch time is the easier way into YouTube's Partner Programme, and a compilation turns work you already have into it, in minutes.

A compilation is not a film. A long-form film is one original story of six to ten minutes, made for the wide screen; a compilation is your shorts, back to back. Where your workspace has films, the app calls a compilation "Compilation (stitched shorts)" so the two are never confused.

What it does#

PartWhat you get
The video1920 × 1080 at 30 frames a second, encoded for YouTube
The pictureEach vertical short centred at full height, over a blurred, darkened fill of its own picture — never cropped
The joinsA short fade from one short to the next
The soundThe whole video brought to one even loudness, so no short is louder than the next
The orderOldest first
The chaptersOne per short, at the moment it starts, named after it — written into the description, where YouTube turns them into chapters
The titleYours, or "Channel: N stories in one"
The thumbnailA still for the cover

It is made on a GPU box with video tools alone: no agent and no model is involved, which is why it costs so little.

How to use it#

  1. On the channel page, once the channel has at least three ready episodes, the Episodes section shows Make a compilation (or Make a long video). Press it.
  2. On the page that opens:
    • Title (optional) — up to 100 characters, YouTube's limit. Leave it empty for "Channel: N stories in one"; you can change it when you post.
    • Episodes — tick 3 to 12. The newest originals are ticked for you — up to ten, about ten minutes, a length long-form viewers sit through well. The channel's translations can be added too; each shows its language. They play oldest first, whatever order you tick them in.
  3. The bar at the bottom shows how many episodes you picked, how long the video will be and about how many credits it costs, with the price line under it.
  4. Press Make the long video. The job page opens: it waits for a GPU slot, then takes minutes — longer for twelve shorts than for three.

A compilation of the channel already being made is shown at the top of the page; you can queue another beside it.

Post it#

The compilation lands in Episodes with a long-form badge. Its page shows the video, its Chapters — "Already in the description: YouTube turns these into chapters." — and the texts to post it.

A compilation is posted by hand: download it (Download) and use the texts on its page, which carry the chapters. The schedule posts only a channel's shorts. A typical description:

6 stories from Cosmic Scale, back to back.

0:00 The real size of the Sun next to Earth
2:31 Light-speed from the Sun to Neptune
5:04 What a black hole does to a star
…

Post it as a normal video on YouTube — not as a Short — and as a video on the Facebook Page. Instagram and TikTok are made for the vertical shorts themselves.

Credits and plans#

  • A compilation uses a few minutes of a GPU box and nothing else, so it costs very few credits; the picker shows about how many, and the price line what is reserved and what such jobs typically cost.
  • Compilations are on every plan, the Trial included.
  • A compilation that fails on our side is not charged.

Limits and good to know#

  • Three to twelve episodes, all ready or published, all of the same channel.
  • Only finished episodes go in: a held episode is released first, and only the episode's current version is used.
  • A compilation is not checked again: each short in it passed its own checks. It does not carry the Original & reviewed badge of its shorts, and it cannot be translated, edited or made into a carousel.
  • Keep it varied: a compilation of shorts on one theme, in a sensible order, is worth more to viewers than a random pile. Name it for what binds them.

Troubleshooting#

  • "It needs at least 3 ready episodes." Generate a few more from the channel page, then come back.
  • "Some of those episodes are not ready in this channel any more — reload the page." One of them was held or archived meanwhile: reload and pick again.
