Approvals on your phone
Ask for approval before a channel posts: a swipe deck on your phone, a morning digest, storyboards to answer, and what the schedule does while you decide.
Every episode is checked by the quality gates and the critic before it reaches your library. Approvals add your own yes on top: a channel that asks for approval posts only the episodes someone approved. Its new episodes wait in a deck of cards built for a phone — swipe right to approve, left to hold — and a morning email tells you what is waiting.
What it does#
- A channel set to Ask for approval before each episode posts keeps every ready episode that is not approved yet off its slots — including those made before you ticked it — until someone approves it.
- Approvals in the sidebar shows those episodes as a deck, the oldest on top — the order the channel's schedule posts them in — with a count of what waits.
- Each card says when the episode would post if you approved it now.
- Each morning, owners and admins get one email listing what waits.
- Channels that approve their storyboards first show those boards in Approvals too, above the deck.
Turn it on#
- Open the channel (Channels → the channel) and find Schedule & generation.
- Tick Ask for approval before each episode posts.
- Press Save schedule. The page answers that each episode now waits in Approvals until someone approves it, and Approvals appears in the sidebar.
Editors, admins and owners change it. Turn it off the same way, and the channel's ready episodes post on its slots again, oldest first.
Use the deck#
- Open Approvals — on your phone, if you like; it is made for one hand.
- The top card shows the episode's picture, its channel, critic N/10, its title and its length. Tap the picture to play the episode on the card; tap again to pause.
- Under the card, If approved: gives the slot it would take, in the channel's own time zone, and how far off it is — "Wed 21 Oct, 15:00 Rome time · in 3 h". If it would not be scheduled, the line says why: the channel's schedule is off, the channel is paused, or it has no posting times.
- Decide:
- Approve — swipe the card right, press Approve, or press A on a keyboard.
- Hold — swipe left, press Hold, or press H. Open Add a reason for holding (optional) first to say why, in up to 300 characters — "the hook is weak", "a fact needs checking".
- The next card comes up at once; the answer is saved in the background. Up next lists the eight after it, each opening its episode's page.
The deck answers in plain words: "Approved … The schedule posts it in its turn." — or, if the channel's schedule is off, that it posts once you turn the schedule on or post it by hand. "Held … It will not post; release it from its episode page if you change your mind." When the deck is empty it says All caught up.
If two people approve the same card at once, the first approval counts and the other is told ("… was already approved"). A hold always wins: pressed a moment after someone else's approval, it withdraws that approval. The deck also works without JavaScript: each answer is then a plain form.
Who can do what#
| Role | In Approvals |
|---|---|
| Viewer | Watch the episodes; the deck says approving and holding is for editors, admins and owners |
| Editor, Admin, Owner | Approve and hold; turn a channel's approval on or off |
The morning digest#
Each morning, from 07:00 Rome time (Central European), owners and admins of a workspace with episodes waiting get one email: how many wait, the first five by title and channel, and Review them, which opens Approvals. It is sent once a day and only when something waits, so you hear in time what is waiting for you.
What the schedule does while you decide#
- At each slot the channel posts, to each platform, the oldest approved ready episode that platform has not had.
- With nothing approved, the slot is recorded under Publishing → Slots the scheduler could not fill as empty, with the reason: "no approved episode ready — N waiting for approval".
- A slot is handled once. Approving later does not make up a slot that passed: the episode takes the channel's next slot.
- Generation goes on at the channel's pace. Episodes waiting for approval count towards Keep ready, so the channel stops making new ones once that many are ready, approved or not.
- Hold withdraws an approval. A held episode never posts; released from its page with Release for posting, it comes back to the deck for a new yes — unless a reviewer approved it through a review link while it was held, in which case that approval stands and it can post on its slots.
- An approval is for the episode, not one platform: once approved, it posts to every platform the channel's slots post to.
- Approval covers what the schedule posts: shorts, and clips of your footage that post on the channel's slots. Translations and compilations are posted by hand anyway.
Storyboards in Approvals#
A channel that approves its storyboards has the plan of each episode boarded before any GPU time. Its boards wait in the Storyboards section above the deck: the hook, each scene (what is said, what is on screen, and the facts it relies on with their sources), the payoff and the call to action, how long it waits and what happens then.
- Approve makes the episode from that plan. The episode's price is shown first.
- Edit the beats changes the title, what is said and what is on screen, and which beats are Required; then Save, or Save and approve.
- Reject asks Why not?: the topic goes back to the backlog with your words, and the channel's next storyboard follows.
The last week lists what happened to recent boards. The settings — how long a board waits, what happens when nobody answers, who outside the workspace is asked — are on the channel's page. See The editor and storyboards.
Other ways to approve#
- A review link. A client or a sponsor answers through a private link, with no account; their approval counts as the channel's approval, and their request for changes holds the episode. See Review links for clients.
- The API and MCP. Approve or reject an episode from your own code or assistant, on Pro and above. See Developer overview.
- An agency's client approves in the agency's portal, with its own morning digest. See Agency mode.
Settings#
| Option | Where | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ask for approval before each episode posts | A channel's Schedule & generation | The schedule posts only approved episodes of the channel | Off |
| Add a reason for holding (optional) | Under a card in the deck | Saved with the hold and shown on the episode's page | Empty |
Credits and plans#
Approvals are free and on every plan. An episode is charged when it is made — waiting for approval changes nothing — and holding a ready episode yourself does not refund it, so releasing it again is free.
Limits and good to know#
- An episode not approved before its slots does not post; the digest and the deck's slot line are there so you can answer in time.
- Holding is the way to keep a ready episode off the schedule on a channel that does not ask for approval: Hold back from the schedule on its page.
- Each approval and hold in the deck, and each release, is recorded with who made it.
Troubleshooting#
| You see | What to do |
|---|---|
| No Approvals in the sidebar | No channel asks for approval yet: turn it on in a channel's Schedule & generation |
| Approvals are off (or Episode approvals are off, under storyboards) on the page | The same: the page names the setting |
| An approved episode has not posted | Check Calendar for the channel's next slot, Settings → Connections for its accounts, and Publishing for the slot's reason |
| "Its channel's schedule is off …" after approving | Turn the schedule on, or post it by hand from its page |
