X

Connecting an X account, the video and text X receives, the fixed price of an X post, daily limits, and the X API credits every post depends on.

ChannelForge posts each episode to X as a video with a short text, on the channel's slots, through ChannelForge's own X app. X charges that app for every post, so an X post has a small fixed price in credits, charged only once it is live. X is in every paid plan.

Before you connect#

  • You need an X account. If the X card in Settings → Connections reads setting up, ChannelForge's X app is not ready yet and X cannot be connected.
  • Connecting needs the editor role or above. Disconnecting needs an admin or owner.

Connect#

  1. Open Settings → Connections. The X card states the price of a post. Press Connect.
  2. Sign in to X if asked. X asks to let the app read your profile and post for you.
  3. Press Authorize app straight away: X gives ChannelForge only 30 seconds after you approve to finish the connection. If you wait longer, start again.
  4. Back on Connections, the account shows with its name and @username. Link it to a channel under Which account each channel posts as, and tick X under the channel's Post to.

What is posted#

PartWhat X receives
VideoThe whole episode as a 720 × 1280 copy, the size X recommends
TextThe title, the hook line when it fits, the channel's call to action only if it asks for one, then two hashtags — at most 280 characters as X counts them (an emoji or a CJK character counts 2)
NeverA link (a post with a link costs much more), an @mention that would tag a stranger, #shorts

The episode page's post pack shows the very text that is posted, in its X tab.

When it posts#

On the channel's slots, queued after every other platform of the slot, or with Post now on the episode page (the button shows the price). Two daily limits apply, both on the UTC day:

  • Your workspace's X posts a day, set by your plan. Past it: "This workspace has posted … times to X today (UTC), its plan's limit — the next X post goes out after midnight UTC."
  • ChannelForge's X app's posts a day, for every workspace together. Past it, every workspace's X posts wait for the next UTC day.

A post held back by a limit or the pause is not sent, keeps its tries and is not charged; the slot records why on Publishing.

What it costs#

An X post has a fixed price in credits, shown on the X card in Settings → Connections, on the Post now button and on Pricing ("An X post"). The credits are reserved when the post is queued and charged only once the post is live. A post that fails, waits or is refused is not charged. A spending cap counts X posts like any other paid work: past it, the slot records "capped" and the post waits.

Never twice#

When X takes a post but the answer is lost, the attempt keeps its media reference and is marked may be live. Its next try first reads the account's own recent posts for that video: found, it is recorded and nothing is posted again; not there, it posts. A slot tries again after 15 minutes; Look for it, then retry on the episode page does it at once, with no need to check X yourself.

Reconnecting#

An X connection does not run out on a timer: ChannelForge renews its sign-in by itself before each post. When X refuses the renewal for good — you changed your password, or removed the app's access — the account is marked for reconnecting: press Add on the X card and authorise again. The same account is updated.

To remove ChannelForge's access at X, use X's Settings → Security and account access → Apps and sessions.

Good to know#

  • X posts are counted, but their views are not read — every read is billed — so the Analytics page shows "no metrics yet" for them.
  • Each platform posts on its own: a failed X post never holds back the slot's other platforms.

Troubleshooting#

"X would not exchange the code … X allows 30 seconds after you approve, so start again." Connect again and press Authorize app at once.

"X gave no refresh token (offline access was not granted)." Connect again and allow everything X asks for.

"X posting is paused for every workspace until … UTC: ChannelForge's X API credits ran out." Nothing for you to do: your posts wait and go out after the pause, once the app's credits are topped up.

"X posting is not in your plan." The Trial does not post to X; every paid plan does.
